Israel has warned its military will take “whatever measures are necessary” to prevent a boat carrying humanitarian aid and pro-Palestinian activists from reaching Gaza. The Madleen yacht, 160 nautical miles from the Gaza Strip, is attempting to challenge Israel’s naval blockade of the territory.
Defence Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF to act against the vessel, saying it will not reach Gaza due to its “hate flotilla” status. Katz claims the blockade prevents weapon transfers to Hamas and is essential for Israel’s security.
Humanitarian aid on board includes rice and baby formula, with passengers from around the world. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition says the crew should be allowed to proceed, citing international waters and civilian vessel status.
