A wave of destruction swept through Rishon LeZion, a suburb just south of Tel Aviv, after an Iranian missile struck early Saturday morning. The attack left at least 30 cars badly damaged and several homes with caved-in roofs, including the residence of Ifat Benhaim and her family who narrowly escaped harm.
The strike was part of six waves of Iranian attacks launched overnight in response to Israeli air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Two people were killed in Rishon LeZion, with one identified as 73-year-old Israel Aloni. Around 19 others were injured, while millions fled for shelter during the attacks.
As rescue efforts continued, Ifat and her family packed what they could from their home of 29 years, which was severely damaged by the missile. Neighbours expressed shock and sadness at the destruction, with one neighbour praising her decision to stay with her daughter overnight as a lifesaving choice.
Israel’s military operation, dubbed “Operation Rising Lion,” has targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, missile sites, air defences, and other infrastructure since Friday. The Iranian health ministry reported that around 800 people had been injured in the strikes, while state television confirmed at least 60 deaths in Tehran alone.
