Israeli Far-Right Ministers Reject Gaza Ceasefire Deal with Hamas

Two far-right Israeli ministers, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, resigned from the government over a proposed ceasefire deal with Hamas. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also expressed opposition to the agreement, saying Israel would only leave the conflict after achieving its goals.

Under the multi-phase deal, 33 Israeli hostages in Gaza are set to be released first, followed by negotiations on the remaining prisoners and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces. However, some families fear their relatives will be abandoned if the second stage is not implemented, leading to protests.

As part of the ceasefire agreement, Israel plans to release nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees. The deal has sparked tensions within Netanyahu’s coalition, with the far-right Otzma Yehudit party saying it will not try to bring down the government.
