A Palestinian father’s outrage has grown after an Israeli strike killed his son while he waited with other children for a sip of water. The incident occurred on Sunday morning at a water distribution point in Nuseirat camp, where many displaced people and exhausted individuals gather daily.
Mahmoud Abdul Rahman Ahmed said his 10-year-old son Abdullah was among the children waiting for their daily supply of water when Israeli warplanes bombed the area. The strike left dozens dead and injured, including six children, according to Al-Awda hospital in Nuseirat.
The Israeli military claimed that the strike targeted a Palestinian Islamic Jihad “terrorist,” but acknowledged that a technical error led to civilian casualties. However, Mahmoud disputed this account, saying that Israel intentionally targeted civilians who were only trying to access basic necessities like water.
The UN has warned of a worsening drought crisis in Gaza due to fuel and spare part shortages for water facilities. This has resulted in many people receiving less than the emergency standard of 15 liters per day.
“This war needs to stop, and so does the ongoing massacre happening in the Gaza Strip,” Mahmoud said, pleading with Israel to end its actions and allow civilians to live safely.
