Israel’s Aggressive Strategic Doctrine Puts Region at Risk

Israel’s latest strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon are part of a new aggressive strategic doctrine that prioritizes military force over diplomacy, according to analyst Rami Khouri. The doctrine is expected to lead to continued attacks in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran, regardless of whether Israel faces any direct challenge.

Hezbollah remains stronger than the Lebanese state systems despite being degraded by conflict with Israel, making disarmament a difficult task. Israeli forces have also been involved in other conflicts, including Gaza’s Rafah, where over 275,000 people lived before the war began. In May last year, Israel invaded Rafah, leading to the displacement of one million people.

The US administration has given Israel a “green light” to expand its attacks across the region, according to Phyllis Bennis. This expansion includes the attacks in Lebanon, where Israeli forces have issued new forced evacuation orders for the city, forcing thousands to flee again.

Thousands of Palestinians are fleeing Rafah as UNICEF reports that Israel has killed 322 children in Gaza since March 18. The situation is dire, with widespread destruction and displacement affecting millions across the region.
