Israel’s Gaza City Destruction Leaves Thousands Trapped Under Rubble

Israel has destroyed over 1,000 buildings in Gaza City since its invasion began on August 6, leaving hundreds trapped under the rubble, according to the Palestinian Civil Defence. The agency says ongoing shelling and blocked access routes are preventing rescue and aid operations.

At least 51 Palestinians have been killed across Gaza, including 27 in Gaza City, with hospitals overwhelmed by the toll of attacks. The situation is dire, with reports of famine declared in the area, where hunger has intensified, resulting in at least eight more deaths from starvation since the war began.

Israeli forces are blocking access to aid sites, and residents have reported explosions echoing through neighbourhoods. Rights groups and UN experts have accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, citing a lack of safe areas for civilians, with shelling targeting homes, shelters, and displacement camps.

The Palestinian Ministry of Interior has warned against Israeli plans to forcibly displace residents from Gaza City, urging them to remain in their communities or move to nearby areas rather than relocate southwards. The situation remains dire, with thousands trapped under rubble and many struggling to survive amidst ongoing attacks.
