Israel’s Gaza Crisis Escalates: Death Toll Rises and Humanitarian Aid Blocked

Israeli forces have intensified their military operations in the northern occupied West Bank, carrying out overnight raids in multiple towns across the Tulkarem governorate. The raids, which began late at night, left several people injured, including an elderly resident who was assaulted with stun grenades.

In Kafr al-Labad, Israeli troops stormed the town, firing heavily and indiscriminately in the streets. Soldiers also shot at surveillance cameras on storefronts, searched vehicles, and raided homes.

Separate Israeli military units raided the towns of Allar, Sida, Qaffin, and Anabta, east of Tulkarem. The raids have become a near-daily occurrence across the West Bank, particularly in the Tulkarem area, where infrastructure is often destroyed, and many are assaulted, arrested, or shot by Israeli soldiers.

Meanwhile, activists attempted to block an aid convoy entering Gaza, but were met with resistance from Israeli authorities. Dozens of protesters, including family members of Israeli captives held in Gaza, closed the Allenby Bridge crossing today in protest against the continued entry of humanitarian aid convoys into the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, two groups organising the protest warned that they would “prevent aid by every legal means available.” The US has reported that at least 90,000 children need immediate treatment for malnutrition in Gaza, while over 800 people have been killed trying to access aid distribution sites.

Israel’s military actions in Gaza have also sparked concerns about its use of civilian drones. An investigation by Israeli outlets +972 and Local Call found that the Israeli army has weaponised commercial Chinese drones (EVO models) to drop grenades on Palestinian civilians, describing it as “decentralized killing.”

Opposition politician Yair Lapid has come out against Israel’s plans to concentrate a significant percentage of Gaza’s population in Rafah. He described the plan as “a bad idea from every possible perspective – security, political, economic, logistical, and military.”
