A recent wave of Israeli strikes in Gaza has claimed the lives of at least 38 people, including children. The death toll includes nine Palestinian doctors, with one doctor losing all but one of her 10 children in an Israeli strike last Friday.
Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that a total of 3,785 people have been killed since Israel ended a ceasefire in March. The Gaza Strip has faced severe shortages of food, medicine, and fuel for over two and a half months, with aid entering the territory only recently.
The UN World Food Program executive director Cindy McCain stated that she has not seen evidence to support claims that Hamas is responsible for looting aid trucks, but rather sees desperate people running towards aid deliveries. Israel’s COGAT agency reported 107 aid trucks entered Gaza on Sunday, which the UN considers insufficient.
Israel plans to seize full control of Gaza and facilitate voluntary migration, a plan rejected by Palestinians and the international community. The Israeli military also intercepted a missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Sunday, triggering air raid sirens in Jerusalem.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in over 53,000 Palestinian deaths since Israel’s 19-month offensive began. Hezbollah leader Naim Kassem reiterated his group’s stance that it will not discuss giving up its remaining weapons until Israel withdraws from southern Lebanon and stops its airstrikes.
