Israel’s Gaza Strikes Kill Dozens Amid Escalating Conflict

Israel has carried out a wave of airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 63 Palestinians and sparking widespread condemnation. The latest strikes targeted military facilities near Aleppo in northern Syria, as well as hospitals and residential areas in Gaza.

Human rights groups have expressed concern over the Israeli army’s denial of holding Kamal Adwan Hospital director Hussam Abu Safia, despite clear documentation of his arrest. At least 230 doctors have been arrested by the Israeli army since October 2023, with many of their whereabouts remaining unknown.

The Palestinian Authority has also faced criticism for shutting down Al Jazeera’s office in the occupied West Bank, a move described as “a crime against journalism.” Journalists and media workers have reported numerous threats and arrests under Israeli occupation.

As the conflict escalates, Iraq has condemned Israel’s targeting of displaced Palestinians in Gaza, calling it a “clear and repeated step to escalate the conflict” and undermine peace efforts. At least 12 Palestinians were killed in an attack on a tent housing displaced people in southern Gaza, with many more reported dead in other attacks.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with cold temperatures, flooding, and lack of food exacerbating the situation. A seventh infant has died of hypothermia, bringing the overall death toll from the cold to eight.
