Blake Lively’s wardrobe demands allegedly ballooned the budget of “It Ends With Us” by $430,000, according to a lawsuit filed by director Justin Baldoni. The actor-director claims that Lively exerted control over production and disregarded the director’s vision for her character’s costume.
The alleged email from April 2023 shows that the original wardrobe budget was set at $185,000, but it had already exceeded that amount to $615,000 by then. A line producer claimed in an email that Lively had spent more money than usual on her own wardrobe and asked for additional funding to replenish her costume cards.
The lawsuit claims that Lively’s actions led to the excessive budget and diverting resources away from other cast members’ wardrobes. It also cites a backlash she faced when paparazzi caught photos of her “hand-picked” wardrobe on set, sparking criticism and sparking tension with producers.
Baldoni alleges that he approached Lively about necessary wardrobe adjustments but was ignored, instead suggesting he was being manipulated by Sony to convince him to let her control the wardrobe. The feud escalated in December 2024 when Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliation.
Lively later filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, claiming defamation and extortion. Baldoni has denied the allegations and responded with a $400 million counter-suit.
