For nearly 30 years, USB-A has been the standard for connections in our electronics. However, its time has come to an end. The introduction of USB-C in 2014 brought a more powerful and efficient alternative.
USB-A was introduced to replace Micro USB, which had limited space on devices like phones and laptops. While it’s easy to use and cheap to make, the need for multiple adapters to connect peripherals is becoming overwhelming.

USB-C offers faster data transfer rates, making it an attractive option for desktops. Having more ports can lead to reduced cable clutter and increased features. Reversible plugs also make it easier to use.
While it’s understandable that some older peripherals still use USB-A, the time has come for USB-C to take center stage. Manufacturers should consider offering motherboards with more USB-C ports than USB-A. This will give users a choice and allow them to transition to a faster and more efficient connection standard.
