J.J. McCarthy Organizes Offseason Throwing Sessions for Teammates

Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy organized two throwing sessions with teammates during the offseason to improve team chemistry and timing. The sessions took place near Nashville, Tennessee, where tight ends T.J. Hockenson and Josh Oliver, along with running backs Jordan Mason and Ty Chandler, attended.

A larger group of receivers, including Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, met up in Minnesota for a session. McCarthy emphasized the importance of reps in building timing and rhythm in the offense. “The more reps we get, the better,” he said.

Addison appreciated the opportunity to spend time with his quarterback and other teammates outside of practice sessions. “It’s always good building a connection…and just keep that chemistry going,” he added. As McCarthy prepares to start as Minnesota’s QB1 in 2025, he faces competition from Sam Howell, Brett Rypien, and Max Brosmer on the roster.
