J.K. Dobbins is staying in the AFC West by signing a one-year, $5.25 million deal with the Denver Broncos. The former Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers running back made the move after meeting with the Broncos during a visit earlier this week.
Dobbins joins a committee backfield that will likely see competition for playing time among UCF standout RJ Harvey, Notre Dame’s Audric Estimé, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Tyler Badie. Despite injuries throughout his career, Dobbins has shown promise as a runner, including a career-best 905 yards in his lone season with the Chargers.
Dobbins’ departure from the Chargers was marked by an unusual move: Los Angeles placed an unrestricted free agent tender on him, granting them exclusive negotiating rights until July 22. However, with six weeks remaining before that deadline, the Broncos swooped in to secure Dobbins’ services.
