Jack Black is set to return to “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) for the first time in nearly two decades, hosting the show on April 5. The actor and comedian expressed his excitement but also nervousness about returning to Studio 8H after a long break.
Black made a stop in London for the premiere of his upcoming film “A Minecraft Movie,” which he stars in alongside Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and newcomer Sebastian Hansen. He plays expert crafter Steve in the movie, directed by Jared Hess.
Before heading into the SNL writer’s room, Black told Variety that he was familiar with Minecraft and had played the game before. He also co-wrote an original song for the film, “I Feel Alive,” which features Dave Grohl on drums.
Black will be promoting his new film while hosting SNL, a tradition that allows him to create sketches without knowing their final direction. He praised his current cast members, calling them “kids” and expressing his enthusiasm for working with them.
This marks Black’s third time hosting SNL, having done so in 2002 and 2003 as well. His new film is set to release on April 4 via Warner Bros. Pictures.
