Fast-food chain Jack in the Box is planning to shut down around 150 to 200 underperforming locations over the next few years, according to USA Today. The company currently operates approximately 2,200 restaurants nationwide, with most located on the West Coast and Midwest.
As of the end of this year, about 80 to 120 locations are set to close, while the remaining closures will occur at unspecified times based on individual franchise agreement termination dates.
In addition, Jack in the Box is considering selling Del Taco, a Tex-Mex fast-food chain it acquired just three years ago. The chain currently has around 600 locations across 17 states.
These plans are part of the company’s “Jack on Track” strategy aimed at improving long-term financial performance.
