Jack Lilley, ‘Little House’ Alum, Dies at 91

Jack Lilley, best known for his roles on the classic TV series “The Little House on the Prairie,” has passed away at the age of 91. Melissa Gilbert announced the news in an Instagram post, describing him as “one of my favorite people on the planet” and sharing fond memories of their time working together.

Lilley played various roles on “Little House,” including his iconic wrangler character, which Melissa Gilbert credited with teaching her how to ride a horse. He also appeared in other notable films like “Blazing Saddles.” The two reconnected 20 years ago when they worked on an ABC pilot called “Then Came Jones,” which didn’t get picked up but brought back happy memories of their time on “Little House.”

Gilbert recalled the day she returned to work on a new project, finding herself back at Paramount Studios and Big Sky Ranch, where she had previously filmed “Little House.” The moment was especially meaningful as it happened on Michael Landon’s birthday and Halloween. When she arrived on set, Lilley hollered out his iconic greeting, and Gilbert knew she was home.

Melissa Gilbert expressed her gratitude for having Lilley in her life, describing him as someone who “always felt like home to me.” She offered love and prayers for his family following his passing.
