Jaedyn Shaw Traded from San Diego Wave to North Carolina Courage

The San Diego Wave have reportedly traded 20-year-old star forward Jaedyn Shaw to the North Carolina Courage in exchange for a significant allocation of funds. According to multiple reports, Shaw had requested a trade earlier this year, prompting the Wave to search for a new landing spot.

Under the new NWSL collective bargaining agreement, which takes effect on Wednesday, player consent is required for all trades. Shaw played 22 games for San Diego, scoring four goals and contributing one assist while also earning her first call-ups with the USWNT.

The move sees Shaw join a North Carolina team that could benefit from her goal-scoring prowess. The Courage finished fifth last season but showed promise before being eliminated in the playoffs. Meanwhile, San Diego will rebuild without key players like Alex Morgan, who retired earlier this year and Jonas Eidevall, the new head coach hired by the Wave.
