Jaguar Type 00 Signals Volkswagen’s Cost-Cutting Measures

Volkswagen is previewing its future with the Jaguar Type 00, a car that showcases the company’s cost-cutting measures. Speaking to media representatives, Volkswagen’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Kai Grünitz revealed that the development of new cars has been hampered by budget constraints.

To address this issue, Volkswagen has adopted a more aggressive approach to vehicle design and testing. The company is now using a 30-36 month development cycle, significantly reducing the time required to bring new models to market. This cost-cutting strategy involves reusing existing platforms and cutting corners on real-life test drives through computer-based vehicle tests.

By adopting these measures, Volkswagen aims to bridge the multi-billion dollar gap in its budget and stay competitive in the automotive industry.
