Jaguars Hire Packers LBs Coach as New Defensive Coordinator

Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen has begun filling out his staff, announcing the hiring of Anthony Campanile as their new defensive coordinator. Campanile brings an aggressive defensive mindset and a system that allows players to play fast and physical.

The 42-year-old coach previously worked with the Miami Dolphins for four seasons as their linebackers coach before joining the Green Bay Packers, where he spent one season and helped the team allow just 99.4 rushing yards per game.

Campanile’s arrival comes after a disappointing 2024 season under former DC Ryan Nielsen, who led the defense to rank 31st in opponents yards per game. With Campanile at the helm, the young core of Josh-Hines Allen, Travon Walker, and Devin Lloyd will have an experienced coach to work with.

The Jaguars also own the No. 5 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, which could be used to address one of their biggest needs: cornerback. With Trevor Lawrence entering his fifth NFL season, Coen and the team can now focus on building a strong offense around their young quarterback.
