Jaguars’ Rookie CB Travis Hunter Shares Pregame Jitters, Defense Issues

Jaguars rookie cornerback Travis Hunter shared his honest thoughts about his preseason debut against the Steelers, revealing pre-game jitters and defensive struggles.

Hunter, drafted second overall by the Jaguars in April, played both offense and defense as expected. On offense, he caught two passes for 9 yards on 10 snaps. However, his defensive stint was marred by a missed tackle and confusion over the defensive playcall.

“I was a little nervous at first,” Hunter said. “But after the first play, I was good.” Despite this, head coach Liam Coen noted that Hunter made some good decisions on option routes but struggled defensively.

Hunter also acknowledged his mistakes, saying, “We can flush it right away and just get back to business. I know what I’ve got to do next time.”

In contrast, fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders had a standout performance with the Browns, going 14-for-23 with 138 yards and two touchdowns in their 30-10 win over the Panthers.
