Jaguars Training Camp Update: Breakouts, Injuries, and Position Battles

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ training camp is in full swing, with coaches and reporters providing insight into the team’s progress. Coach Liam Coen has been pleased with quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s improvement in his footwork and overall game. The coach also likes the start of receiver Travis Hunter, who will split his time between offense and defense.

Hunter had an eventful day on defense, breaking up three passes in 21 snaps in 11-on-11 work. He showed promise in man coverage, taking away from receiver Joshua Cephus’ ability to get open on deep post routes. Hunter’s defensive play has been a highlight of the camp so far, and he could be a key player for the team.

On the injury front, cornerback Montaric Brown will miss the rest of training camp with a lower leg injury. This creates an opportunity for Jarrian Jones and Travis Hunter to gain reps in the secondary. Defensive end Travon Walker also broke up a Trevor Lawrence pass at the line of scrimmage, showing his growth as a pass rusher.

The Jaguars are also focusing on developing their offense. Receiver Parker Washington has caught several passes from quarterback Trevor Lawrence, including one touchdown catch in red zone work. Coach Coen praises Washington’s strong start to camp and believes he has the right mindset to succeed.

Despite some injuries, the Jaguars’ training camp is off to a promising start. With the team’s young players stepping up, there’s reason to believe that this could be a breakout season for the franchise.
