The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed quarterback Trevor Lawrence on injured reserve due to a concussion suffered in Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. This move likely ends Lawrence’s season, considering he will miss at least four games and has already dealt with multiple injuries this season. Lawrence initially hurt his left shoulder in November but continued playing without missing a snap.
With Lawrence out, Mac Jones is expected to be the starter moving forward, having thrown for 235 yards and two touchdowns in relief of Lawrence during their last game. C.J. Beathard will serve as Jones’ backup. The Jaguars also signed journeyman John Wolford to the practice squad and veteran receiver Josh Reynolds off waivers.
Reynolds, who has played eight seasons with four teams, is expected to help a depleted receiving corps that has lost key players Christian Kirk (broken collarbone) and Gabe Davis (knee) for the season. Lawrence’s contract extension, worth $265 million, includes a $37.5 million signing bonus and $142 million guaranteed.
