New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson scored 42 points and dished out 10 assists, leading the team to a 124-118 win over the Houston Rockets on Monday night. This performance tied him for third on the franchise list with Carmelo Anthony.
Brunson’s fourth-quarter surge, where he scored 17 points, was crucial in bringing the Knicks back from an 11-point deficit after three quarters. The 42-year-old veteran has now achieved his 12th game with at least 30 points and 10 assists since joining the Knicks.
The Rockets’ star, Amen Thompson, put on a show with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in a triple-double performance. However, Houston’s winless streak – losing three games for the first time this season – continues due to injuries, including the absence of All-Star Alperen Sengun.
Despite playing without starting forward OG Anunoby due to a right foot sprain, the Knicks’ bench contributed with 22 points from Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges. The team’s coach, Ime Udoka, acknowledged that Brunson’s performance was crucial in securing the win.
The Rockets face Brooklyn on Tuesday, while the Knicks visit Toronto on the same night.
