IO Interactive, the developer of Hitman, is set to release its third-person action-adventure game centered on a standalone re-imagining of James Bond’s origin. The game, titled 007 First Light, will be released in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and features a unique take on Bond’s early years.
In 007 First Light, Bond is introduced as a 26-year-old Navy air crewman who shows exceptional bravery and audacity, earning him a spot in MI6’s challenging training program. This original story, developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, will follow Bond as he learns to become a spy through a combination of natural instinct, wit, and heart.
Players will experience Bond on his journey from Navy air crewman to fully-fledged spy, interacting with iconic characters such as M, Q, and Moneypenny. The game features varied gameplay, including intense combat, driving, stealth, and gadget usage, all powered by IO Interactive’s proprietary engine, Glacier.
With an enhanced version coming for PlayStation 5 Pro, featuring 60 FPS in Quality Mode, fans can already start getting excited for the release of 007 First Light in 2026.
