Jamie Dimon Defends JPMorgan’s WFH Policy Amid Backlash

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has defended his comments on work-from-home (WFH) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies. In a recent interview with CNBC, he acknowledged some faults in his previous remarks but maintained that the bank is committed to supporting diverse communities.

Dimon clarified that he is not against WFH overall, but opposes it in certain circumstances. He described some DEI efforts as wasteful but emphasized that the bank will continue to reach out to underrepresented groups. The CEO stated that employees who choose not to work from home five days a week have the right to do so, but must respect the company’s decision.

The comments come after Dimon faced criticism for his remarks during an internal town hall in February. A petition against the in-office mandate collected over 1,700 signatures, and some employees expressed concerns about the drawbacks of returning to full-time office work.

Dimon acknowledged that he cursed and got angry during the town hall, but said he should not have done so. He emphasized that the bank is committed to supporting its clients and employees, regardless of their personal preferences or choices regarding WFH policies.
