Jamie Foxx Opens Up About Stroke Recovery and Family Support

Actress and comedian Jamie Foxx returned to the stage at the 2025 BET Awards, where he gave an emotional speech about his two-year journey since suffering a stroke. The incident occurred in April 2023, after Foxx experienced a severe headache, which led to him losing consciousness.

Foxx’s speech was a heartfelt thank-you to his family members who supported him during that dark period. His daughters, Corinne and Anelise, were visibly moved as they sat in the audience, watching their father accept one of the night’s Ultimate Icon Awards.

In his speech, Foxx credited his younger daughter, Anelise, with helping him recover from the stroke. He shared a story about how she played her guitar in his hospital room, which allegedly helped improve his vitals and brought hope to both him and the medical team.

Foxx also thanked his sister, Deidre Dixon, who took care of him during his recovery, and praised his eldest daughter for keeping updates on his health. The emotional speech was met with applause from the audience, including music legend Stevie Wonder, who presented Foxx with the Ultimate Icon Award.

The incident has left many in awe of Foxx’s resilience and gratitude towards those closest to him.
