Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken out on social media about the devastating wildfires currently raging across Southern California, slamming false reports and urging her followers to rely on verified sources during this critical time.
The Palisades Fire, which began at 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, has grown to at least 2,921 acres with zero containment, posing a threat to over 10,300 homes. Multiple burn victims have been confirmed, and Curtis’ home is potentially at risk.
Curtis emphasized the importance of accurate information during this time, saying “PLEASE POST FACTS!” as many communities are experiencing conflicting reports. She expressed gratitude towards firefighters and good Samaritans helping people evacuate the area.
Fans of the actress flooded her comments with words of support and prayer, while several residents who also live in the affected Palisades community shared their concerns and sympathy for those suffering losses.
The wildfires have prompted widespread evacuations, road closures, and a state of emergency declaration by California Governor Gavin Newsom. The iconic Rose Bowl Stadium has been repurposed as an evacuation center for large animals, while the Pasadena Humane Society is providing refuge for smaller pets displaced by the fires.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) has also cancelled its live nominations announcement due to fire concerns, citing caution for presenter and guest safety.
