Japan Hosts Global Conference on African Development

Japan has launched a global conference on African development in Yokohama, near Tokyo, to boost ties with the continent’s nations. Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru is using the event to promote collaborative solutions with Africa and other countries.

Ishiba proposed training programs in AI and other fields for personnel in African countries, as well as discussions on promoting peace, stability, and the rule of law. A statement, known as the Yokohama declaration, will be adopted on Friday.

The conference is an opportunity for Ishiba to strengthen Japan’s relationships with over 30 nations through transparent development projects. This move comes amidst increased competition from China and Russia in African development efforts.
