Japan, South Korea, China Agree on Trade Ties Amid North Korea Concerns

Leaders from Japan, South Korea, and China agreed to deepen trade ties and restated their goal of a denuclearized Korean peninsula during talks in Tokyo. The meetings come amid US tariffs looming over the region and concerns over North Korea’s arms tests.

The three neighbors reaffirmed their shared interest and responsibility for maintaining peace on the Korean peninsula. Japan’s Takeshi Iwaya, South Korea’s Cho Tae-yul, and China’s Wang Yi discussed trilateral cooperation and regional international affairs during the talks.

Wang noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of World War II, emphasizing the importance of reflecting on history to build a better future. Foreign policy experts view these talks as significant due to the new US position.

Meanwhile, US Senator Steve Daines met China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng in Beijing, where they discussed easing strained trade relations. The visit aims to promote dialogue and ease tensions between Washington and Beijing.
