However, he acknowledged that Chase was not talking about anything personal or seeking praise. The film features an ensemble cast, including Cory Michael Smith as Chase and Gabriel LaBelle as Lorne Michaels. Reitman aimed to find humanity in each character, even those like Chase who have a large ego.
Reitman’s casting process focused on identifying one defining trait for each character. For Chase, it was his need for ego humbling. Despite the mixed reaction from some cast members, including Chase, Reitman remained committed to capturing the essence of their characters.
