A civil lawsuit filed by an unnamed 13-year-old girl, known as Jane Doe, accuses Jay-Z and Sean Combs of raping her in 2000 after she was invited to a private party. The allegations were first made public in October, but the lawsuit has now been amended.
According to the complaint, the girl was driven to an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards and offered a drink by a waitstaff member. She then began feeling unwell and was taken to a room where she claims Combs and Carter assaulted her.
The lawsuit alleges that Combs “aggressively approached” the girl, grabbed her, and threw her against a wall. Carter allegedly removed the girl’s clothes while she was disoriented, and the two men continued their assault after the girl had managed to escape from one of them.
Jay-Z has denied the allegations, calling them “so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint.” His lawyer says Combs is confident in his innocence and believes the truth will prevail in court.
The lawsuit is part of a larger pattern of allegations against Combs, who was indicted in September on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is set to go to trial in May 2025.
Jane Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, has filed at least 20 lawsuits against Combs on her behalf, as well as multiple other clients who claim they were also assaulted by him. Buzbee claims that many of these women have been bullied or harassed into coming forward with their allegations, and he is pushing for real justice in the cases.
The case has sparked widespread attention and debate about the handling of sex trafficking and assault allegations against celebrities.
