A lawsuit accusing Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 has been dismissed, according to court documents filed in New York. The plaintiff, Jane Doe, voluntarily dropped the case after US District Judge Analisa Torres approved Jay-Z’s request to dismiss the lawsuit.
Jay-Z, who was married to BeyoncĂ© at the time, responded to the dismissal by stating that the allegations were “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling” and had no merit. He also expressed concern for the impact of false accusations on his personal life and called for stronger protections for those falsely accused.
Jane Doe initially filed the lawsuit, claiming that both Jay-Z and Combs assaulted her after an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000. However, she later admitted to making mistakes in identifying her attackers and acknowledged that not all the facts were clear.
The dismissal of the lawsuit does not affect Diddy’s current legal battles, which include over three dozen civil lawsuits. His representatives released a statement saying that many of these cases will “fall apart” because they lack truth.
Jay-Z is no longer facing legal trouble in this matter, but his case serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting the innocent from false accusations.
