Jay-Z Asks Court to Dismiss Rape Lawsuit with ‘Sham’ Allegations

Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the rapper of raping a 13-year-old in 2000, citing “glaring inconsistencies” in the plaintiff’s account. The woman, who was accused by Jay-Z and Sean Combs at a party after the MTV Video Music Awards, acknowledged these inconsistencies during an NBC interview but maintains her claim is true.

The lawsuit claimed that Jay-Z took the accuser to a private residence after the awards, where she was allegedly raped. However, NBC reported that the accuser’s father, who would have had to travel hours from his home in upstate New York to pick her up, did not recall having done so.

Jay-Z’s lawyers argue that the interview outs the plaintiff’s allegations, making them appear fabricated. They also provided a timeline of the night and photos showing Jay-Z at a nightclub after the awards, contradicting the plaintiff’s account.

The accuser’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, remains adamant about her client’s claim, despite acknowledging potential inconsistencies in her story. He argues that courts are meant to resolve factual disputes and that news articles should not influence such decisions.

This lawsuit is part of a larger legal dispute between Jay-Z’s lawyers and the accuser’s firm, with each side accusing the other of harassment and improper practices. The court will now consider Jay-Z’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit, which could potentially end the case without a trial.
