Jay-Z has welcomed the dismissal of a rape lawsuit filed against him in 2000, calling the allegations “frivolous, fictitious and appalling”. The civil case, which named the rapper as a defendant alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs, was dropped by the accuser, Jane Doe.
According to a filing in federal court, Jane Doe voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice, meaning she cannot bring it again. The move comes after Jay-Z denied all claims made against him and has maintained his innocence throughout the process.
Jay-Z described the case as “a victory”, stating that the allegations had no merit and would never have proceeded. He also expressed concern for the impact of the case on his wife, Beyonce, and their children.
Sean Combs is currently awaiting trial on racketeering and sex trafficking charges, but has denied all claims made against him in both the civil and criminal cases. Despite this, he faces dozens of other civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and misconduct.
The dismissal of the lawsuit marks a significant development in the ongoing saga surrounding Jay-Z and Sean Combs’ alleged wrongdoing.
