Jay-Z and Beyoncé are doubling down on their defamation claims against Jane Doe, who accused him and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her as a minor in a dismissed case. A federal court complaint filed Monday alleges that Doe devised an “evil conspiracy” with lawyers Tony Buzbee and David Fortney to accuse Jay-Z of sexual assault.
The complaint states that the trio was motivated by greed and disregarded the truth, claiming that Jay-Z repeatedly raped the then 13-year-old Doe in 2000. However, after a graphic lawsuit was filed against Combs, Doe refiled her case in federal court in NYC, where it was eventually dismissed due to lack of evidence.
Jay-Z’s lawyers claim that Doe has since admitted that the allegations were false and that Buzbee pushed her to pursue the claims for personal gain. The complaint also alleges that Doe suffers from several mental health disorders and takes medication.
Buzbee has responded by saying that Jay-Z’s investigators have harassed and intimidated Doe, trying to get her to recant her story. He claims that the allegations against Combs are baseless and will be dealt with in due course.
The defamation case against Buzbee is ongoing, while Combs faces dozens of assault and abuse civil suits from Buzbee-represented plaintiffs and others.
