Jay-Z’s Accuser Says Lawyer Pushed Her to Sue, Lawsuit Withdrawn

A woman who accused Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter of rape has withdrawn her lawsuit against him. A recording obtained by ABC News shows the woman, Jane Doe, agreeing that Jay-Z did not assault her and saying she was pushed into suing him by her lawyer.

The recording is between Jane Doe and two private investigators associated with Jay-Z. In it, Jane Doe tells them she did not have a sexual encounter with Jay-Z at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards as she had claimed in her lawsuit.

Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, denies that Jay-Z ever met Jane Doe and says the recording proves his client’s innocence. The woman’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, disputes this, calling the claim a “blatant lie.”
