Houston attorney Tony Buzbee has filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation, alleging that the company and several attorneys conspired with his former clients to sue him for allegedly paying them to pursue lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Buzbee represents over 100 clients in lawsuits against Combs for alleged sexual abuse. He is also facing two federal lawsuits from former clients accusing him of fraud and other transgressions, which he claims Roc Nation backed as part of an effort to intimidate him.
In a statement, Buzbee said the scheme was caught on tape and that authorities will cooperate with his office to ensure those involved are prosecuted. A spokesperson for Roc Nation called the lawsuit “pathetic” and a “sideshow,” claiming it’s an attempt to distract from other frivolous lawsuits filed by Buzbee.
Buzbee is also facing two separate lawsuits alleging fraud and abuse of trust in handling client payments and settlements. One former client, Matthew Ray Thompson, claims that his monthly maintenance-and-cure funds were misappropriated by the firm, while another former client, Adam Guidry, alleges that he was misled and financially harmed during representation.
The lawsuit marks a new chapter in Buzbee’s high-profile cases against Combs and other celebrities.
