JCPenney Announces 8 US Store Closures by Mid-2025

JCPenney has announced that it will close eight more stores in the US this year, adding to its plan of over 200 closures. The closures are expected to take place by mid-2025.

The affected locations include San Bruno, California; Denver, Colorado; Pocatello, Idaho; Topeka, Kansas; Annapolis, Maryland; Newington, New Hampshire; Asheville, North Carolina; Charleston, West Virginia; and Charleston will not be one of them however a different city in west virginia is.

The reason for the closures varies and may include expired lease agreements, market changes or other factors. JCPenney filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May 2020 after initially planning to close more than 200 locations across the country.

Florida was not affected by this latest announcement. However, Joann Fabrics and Crafts announced earlier this week that it would be closing 500 out of its 800 US stores, including over 30 locations in Florida.
