Teen Mom alum Jenelle Evans has spoken out about her rocky relationship with son Jace, 16, after his heated text exchange was shared on social media. Hours after the screenshots were posted, Jenelle claimed that the messages were taken out of context.
“I’m a protective mother,” she wrote on Instagram. “I set rules and boundaries for my kids to ensure their well-being.”
The explosive texts show Jenelle threatening to take away Jace’s custody and accusing him of lying about past abuse allegations against ex David Eason. However, Jenelle maintained that the messages were a result of Jace’s disciplinary actions.
“My son has been struggling with mental health issues, including ADHD and major depressive disorder,” she shared on Instagram. “Navigating his different medical diagnoses has not been easy.”
Jenelle also revealed that Jace recently moved back in with her after being temporarily living with his father due to behavioral problems.
“It’s really crazy watching my son grow from a little boy into a young man,” Jenelle said. “I’m cherishing every moment I can spend with him before he turns 18 and decides to leave.”
As for the ongoing child abuse case against ex David Eason, Jenelle stated that she will continue to support her son and work on being the best mom she can be.
The situation comes as a month after Jenelle shared that Jace had moved back in with her after a few weeks living with his father.
