Jennifer Lawrence, 34, has spoken about the challenges of motherhood after welcoming her second child earlier this year. The actress stars alongside Robert Pattinson in the upcoming thriller “Die, My Love,” which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival to a nine-minute standing ovation.
Lawrence said that playing a character who battles postpartum depression and psychosis was particularly hard due to her own experience with motherhood. She described feeling “extremely isolating” as a new mom, like an “alien.” The actress credits having children for changing her life and making her more emotionally sensitive.
Pattinson, 39, also shared his struggles in navigating parenthood, saying that the fear of losing one’s role in the relationship is universal. The film, directed by Lynne Ramsay, follows a couple as they move to Montana with their two young children, exploring themes of isolation and anxiety.
The film marks Lawrence’s return to acting after taking time off to focus on motherhood. She revealed that filming a sex scene with Pattinson was one of the hardest days on set, but praised her co-star for making it easier. “Die, My Love” is based on a 2017 novel by Ariana Harwicz and also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Sissy Spacek, and Nick Nolte.
