Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt has spoken out about the rumored feud between her and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar. During an interview with Vulture, Hewitt expressed surprise at the notion of a long-standing rift between them.
“I honestly don’t even know what that was or how that all came to be,” Hewitt said. The actress attributes the supposed feud to the public’s desire for drama and conflict. She believes people often create narratives where co-stars are “against each other” rather than acknowledging the possibility of genuine friendship.
Hewitt explained that she has not spoken with Gellar since the first film released in 1997, largely due to a lack of interaction at the time. However, when questioned about a possible response to the rumors, Hewitt playfully shrugged it off, stating she had no comment to share.
Notably, both actresses reprised their roles for the 2025 reboot of “I Know What You Did Last Summer”. The film marks a new chapter in the story, with Gellar’s character returning in a dream sequence to warn the protagonist of impending danger. Hewitt reprises her role as Julie James, while Freddie Prinze Jr. returns as Ray Bronson. Other notable cast members include Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, and Tyriq Withers.
