Former ‘Top Gear’ host Jeremy Clarkson has made a triumphant declaration, stating that “victory is mine” after a nearly two-decade-long feud with billionaire Elon Musk. The motoring journalist revealed that Musk had sued him in 2008 following a negative review of the Tesla Roadster on the BBC show.
Clarkson recalled that he described the car as “unreliable,” citing examples of brake failure and overheating, which led to Musk’s swift legal action. However, Clarkson claimed that he was vindicated when Musk lost both the defamation case and an appeal in 2013. Despite this, Musk continues to dispute Clarkson’s claims, accusing him of being biased against electric cars.
The two have a long history of exchanging barbs, with Musk calling Clarkson’s show “more about entertainment than truth.” However, Clarkson has maintained that his reviews are fair and balanced, particularly when it comes to car testing. The review of the Tesla Roadster resurfaced recently on Joe Rogan’s podcast, where presenter Chris Harris suggested that Clarkson had treated Musk “dirtier” than anyone else.
Clarkson has denied these claims, stating that their road tests were always scrupulously fair and that he has no problem with electric cars. With Musk facing criticism from others who once hailed him as a visionary, it seems that the tables have turned in Clarkson’s favor.
