Jersey Shore Bar Cancels Bruce Springsteen Tribute Act Over Politics

A Jersey Shore bar and restaurant, Riv’s Toms River Hub in Toms River, canceled a nine-piece Bruce Springsteen cover band, No Surrender, from performing on May 30 following the singer’s recent comments criticizing President Donald Trump.

The cancellation was due to concerns over the potential backlash from the venue’s conservative customer base. Bar owner Tony Rivoli claimed that it would be “too risky” to promote a Springsteen tribute act amid controversy surrounding Trump and Springsteen’s mutual criticism.

Despite the initial denial of the cancellation, No Surrender ultimately decided not to play, citing negative vibes about the situation and safety concerns. The band will now perform at Headliner Oasis in Neptune Township instead.
