JetBlue Passenger Opens Aircraft Door at Logan Airport

A JetBlue passenger opened an aircraft door, deploying the emergency slide, at Boston’s Logan International Airport on Tuesday evening. The individual, who wanted to deplane, was restrained by other passengers until police arrived. Authorities confirmed that the person will face charges and is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.

According to authorities, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. as the aircraft was taxiing. JetBlue stated that a customer opened an overwing exit without warning, causing the emergency slide deployment. The passenger remained on board while police investigated the scene.

The incident comes amid concerns about airline security following recent stowaway cases, including two people found dead in the wheel well of a JetBlue plane at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and a body discovered in the wheel well of a United Airlines plane flying from Chicago to Maui.
