Jets Set to Name Aaron Glenn as New Head Coach

New York Jets head coach hunt appears to have a finalist in Aaron Glenn, who is scheduled to visit the team on Tuesday. The defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions is expected to become the Jets’ next head coach if all goes well during his meeting with the team. This would be Glenn’s second interview with the Jets and comes after he completed a virtual meeting earlier in the playoffs.

Glenn has a history with the Jets, being drafted by them in the first round and playing eight of his 15 years in the league. He went on to coach for the Browns, Saints, and Lions before joining Detroit last season. The Lions’ defense, led by Glenn, finished sixth in scoring defense and had some notable achievements, including allowing just 61.1% completion percentage.

If Glenn is named as the next head coach, he will inherit a team that needs to make decisions about its quarterback situation and young talent. A general manager search has also been ongoing, with 15 interviews held so far. The hiring of a new GM could be the next step in the Jets’ rebuild process.
