The New York Jets are fielding trade calls and considering releasing wide receiver Davante Adams if they cannot find a suitor, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. Adams’ $38.2 million salary cap number makes the move unsurprising. The decision comes on the heels of the team’s split with quarterback Aaron Rodgers after two seasons.
Adams joined the Jets midseason in 2024, but his arrival failed to spark a turnaround. Despite posting 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games, Adams struggled with inefficiency, requiring 114 targets to achieve those numbers. The move paves the way for Garrett Wilson, who is coming off three consecutive 1,000-plus-yard seasons.
With Rodgers now gone, the Jets must focus on building their offense around Wilson and Breece Hall. Finding a new quarterback is job number one, while securing a complement to Wilson will be crucial in the offseason.
