NBA star Jimmy Butler is reportedly open to joining the Phoenix Suns, according to his agent. The move comes as the Miami Heat consider trading Butler, who has expressed a desire for a win-now contender. Despite being a key player on the Heat, Butler’s contract and team performance are under scrutiny.
Butler, 35, is averaging 19 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this season. A perennial postseason performer, he has led his teams to the playoffs in 12 of his first 13 seasons. However, the Heat’s inability to reach a contract extension last summer left Butler with $49 million on his current deal and a $52 million player option for the 2025-26 season.
The Suns are one of several teams that Butler’s agent has indicated he is open to as a destination. Butler himself has taken a positive tone towards the trade rumors, stating that “there’s such a thing as bad publicity” and embracing the attention.
