Jimmy Kimmel returned to his show on Monday after a halt in production due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The host got emotional discussing the challenges faced by his staff and the city, describing it as “a very scary, very stressful, very strange week here in L.A.” Many of his employees had to evacuate their homes, with some losing them entirely.
Kimmel also highlighted the stark contrast between the heroic actions of everyday people during the disaster and those of public figures. He praised firefighters, noting that their bravery is not defined by skin color, while criticizing lawmakers who sought “strings attached” in California’s fire aid package.
The comedian also took a swipe at his alleged future rival, saying they should focus on thanking firefighters rather than making baseless claims about the weather. Kimmel’s monologue included several lighthearted moments, including a surprise co-hosting stint with Bad Bunny on “The Tonight Show”.
Upcoming guests include actor and Saturday Night Live alumna Aidy Bryant, who will discuss her role in the comedy film All In: Comedy About Love, as well as Cynthia Erivo, who brings to life roles like Harriet Tubman and Elphaba in Wicked.
