Joby Aviation, a California-based transportation company, has announced that its electric air taxi is now available in the latest edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The aircraft allows pilots around the world to experience the future of flight from the pilot’s seat.
The Joby aircraft uses “unified flight controls” similar to vertical-lift military aircraft like the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter. This technology enables pilots to intuitively transition between vertical take-off and wingborne flight. Players can fly the Joby aircraft between helipads and airports worldwide, including potential routes for the company’s air taxi service.
Joby’s electric air taxi is designed to carry a pilot and four passengers at speeds of up to 200 mph, offering high-speed mobility with zero operating emissions. The company recently outlined its intended pilot training curriculum, which includes simulator and real-life training exercises to earn a powered-lift type rating.
The inclusion of the Joby aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the result of years of collaboration between Joby and the Microsoft Flight Simulator team. Joby’s air taxi service aims to provide fast, quiet, and convenient travel in cities around the world.
