Swiss Socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein Dies Hours Before New Year’s Celebrations Due to Pulmonary Embolism Linked to Phlebitis
Jocelyn Wildenstein, the fashion designer and former wife of billionaire art dealer Alec Wildenstein, died hours before her New Year’s celebrations. According to Lloyd Klein, her longtime partner, Jocelyn passed away due to a pulmonary embolism caused by phlebitis, an inflammation of the veins in her legs.
Klein explained that the swelling in Jocelyn’s legs and blocked blood flow led to a lack of oxygen in her brain, ultimately causing her death. Despite this, Klein emphasized that Jocelyn was “perfect” just days before her passing, citing a pleasant evening at the Ritz two days prior to her death.
Jocelyn rose to fame in 1999 after her public divorce from Alec Wildenstein, who described her as a woman with “something other people do not have.” The couple’s and-hers facelift underwent cosmetic surgery became a notable aspect of her life. Jocelyn was eventually awarded a $2.5 billion settlement for their two-year legal battle.
Klein praised Jocelyn’s philanthropic efforts, which included creating water sources and funding clinics for animals in Africa. He argued that her contributions should be highlighted over her plastic surgery, stating that she achieved “major, major, major achievements” throughout her life.
